Find out how I can help you
In general, I provide professional writing and editing services for a broad range of businesses, organizations and projects.
Specifically, I can help you develop concepts and approaches and provide writing and editing for:
- Technical Articles
- Case Studies
- Press Releases
I typically help you figure out what it is you want to say and the best way to say it to achieve your goal or desired action. I consider most of what I do “ghostwriting”, writing on behalf of another author or organization (not from my own point of view). So I work hard to understand the author’s perspective and the underlying goals, as well as the more obvious goals of a piece.
I can play a wide range of roles in a project, depending on your needs. If you’ve written a piece you simply need to have edited, I can do that. If you need me to drive a project—for example, creating a timeline, scheduling and interviewing subject matter experts (SMEs), preparing drafts and coordinating review and approvals—I can do that too.
I frequently work with graphic artists or website developers (either yours or resources I can connect you with) who do the graphic design, layout and programming.
Typically, a new client calls me inquiring about writing and editing services, usually on referral from an existing client. Depending on availability (yours and mine), we can discuss the details of your project right then or set a future meeting time.
I ask lots of questions about your organization, your audience, the purpose of the communication and what you are ultimately trying to accomplish—for example, are you trying to persuade someone to buy something or trying to educate them about an issue?
We discuss your overall project and the role that you need for me to play—for example, an individual contributor, project manager or something in between.
Then, of course, we look at deadlines. Sometimes outside forces, like magazine publication dates, drive deadlines. Other times, it’s a matter of looking at the project, the roles and responsibilities of all parties involved, then developing an achievable project plan.
Our initial meeting (up to 1.5 hours) is complimentary and then services are charged hourly. Depending on the nature of a project, I can usually give a good estimate of how long it will take, so there are no surprises.
If you’ve got a tight budget, I can work with you to develop a plan to make the most of it.
